TCSC computing facilities consist of two types of hardware:

1. Linux clusters (Merope & Akaatti) and

2. a local computing grid (TUTGrid).

Merope

The Merope cluster is Linux-based and part of the Finnish Grid Infrastructure (FGI). Read more..

Akaatti

The Akaatti cluster is Linux-based and part of the national M-grid infrastructure. Read more..

Frontnode
HP ProLiant DL585, 2 * 1.8GHz AMD Opteron, 4 GB of memory, 2 * 74 GB hard disk.
Computing nodes
7 ProLiant DL145G2 2 * 2.6 GHz, AMD Opteron, 8 GB of memory, 160 GB hard disk.
6 ProLiant DL145G3 2 * 2.33 GHz, Intel Quad-Core Xeon, 6-8 GB of memory, 160 GB hard disk.
11 ProLiant DL145G5 2 * 3 GHz, Intel Quad-Core Xeon, 16 GB of memory, 160 GB hard disk.
16 BL465G6 2*2.6GHz AMD six-core Opteron, 32GB of memory, 4xDDR Infiniband.

All together, Akaatti provides approximately 350 CPU cores for scientific computing. Akaatti will be merged with Merope in the next future, and new accounts are no longer created.

TUTGrid, the computing grid within TUT

TUTGrid utilizes the idle capacity of desktop PCs and other computers at TUT for scientific computing. There are currently approximately 1000 CPU cores connected. Follow these instructions (TUT intranet) to apply for an account and contact Juha Herrala (email: firstname.lastname@tut.fi).

TUTGrid is based on grid middleware developed by Techila Technologies Ltd.
